Unhealthy Shoppers

I read an interesting article on Yahoo today titled, "America's Unhealthiest Grocery Shoppers." It contains some tips on shopping healthier and some changes in cooking that save calories and keep the taste (for the most part). Check out the article here.

that's an interesting article. I may try the online option; sounds like a surefire way to prevent temptation in the cookie aisle!

Robin--I am commenting here so you'll see it, because there were so many comments already I wanted to make sure you got this. I read the entry on your other blog about Cholestasis of Pregnancy. I had this condition during my third, fourth, and fifth pregnancies. Our third was stillborn, we believe it may have been due to this condition that was undiagnosed by my midwife. I had itching all over my body. Cold baths were my only relief. On the fourth pregnancy, we did tons of research and found that babies carried past the 36th week have a high risk for stillbirth. God brought our fourth baby naturally at 35 weeks, hallelujah. We decided to induce our fifth baby at 36, as she neared the risk point and my OB refused to induce any earlier. I encourage you to do research and become as informed as possible. Cholestasis is serious and there are tests that can be run regularly to ensure all is going well. Check my blog archives for Jane, she was our stillborn. I tell my story there, however I don't mention the cholestasis as we do not have proof that it was the cause of death. She died during delivery at 39-1/2 weeks. Forgive me if I instill fear, but I believe we MUST be informed and take charge of our own health care. No one cares for that baby more than you and Father!

Hi Renee,

Don't worry I get messages in my email whenever a new comment comes in even if its for an old post, so feel free to leave comments in whichever blog or post and I will eventually get it. I wonder if sometimes they don't send the email though because a few times I've found messages later when I got a message for a different comment.

I did check out this website last month and it is what made me bring up the overall itching to my doctor. She ran the liver function tests for me. I've had a bunch of blood tests done and usually they just email me the results and that is it. This time they emailed the results and then about a half hour later I got an email from my doctor saying that they need to run the test again at my next appointment (August 28). In looking at my results myself I could see that they weren't perfect, but not too horribly off from what was expected. I think my doctor wants to monitor the levels now. Strangely enough the itching has subsided substantially and I'm almost convinced that it was a combination of chlorine, sun screen and sun. I take my kids to the water park (kiddy one) and they use lots of harsh chemicals and being busy and all sometimes I didn't get a shower for several hours after getting home. I started showering at the waterpark and then again at home and it seemed to fix the problem.

I also read about still birth and was concerned, so I definitely don't want to blow this off and will follow my doctors advice and if I don't feel they are taking me seriously I will say it again. I'm already in love with this baby and I don't want to lose it.

I don't know the sex of the baby yet, but if its a girl - I can't wait to share the name we have chosen. We had a boy name picked out, but changed our minds...

Please keep me and the little one in your prayers!

Thanks for stopping by and for your concern!
